Grandma Doesn't Like Tattoos

Conversation from this afternoon...

Grandmother in law (GIL):  So, what did you and your mom buy when you went shopping yesterday?

Me: We didn't go shopping. 

GIL:  You didn't?  What were you doing?

Me: We both got tattoos.

(GIL makes a disapproving expression.)

Me (annoyed, even though she's just a 89 year old lady):  Hey, don't make faces at me, Grandma!  (Said in a light and teasing tone, actually, for real.)

GIL:  Well, I'm just thinking about what the Bible says about tattoos in Leviticus.

Me:  (Not speaking, thinking whether it's worth it to discuss Jesus and the whole new covenant thing, which was His whole point.  Quickly deciding it's not worth it.  She's 89.)

GIL:  (Still has disapproving face.)

Me: Grandma, did you get one of these cookies?

I feel like such a rebel.  Tattoo for one day and I'm already pissing off the old ladies.  Su-weet!

Curiosity got the best of me so I googled what the Bible says:

Leviticus 19:28 - Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

I was just curious. Everyone has their own interpretation of the Bible. I have several tattoos myself and will probably get a few more.

wow you got it with your mom! I am still wondering if I can get my mom to get a pedicure or facial with me. but you get tatoos with your mom! I with everyone else. what does it look like and can we see pictures.
