I just received the direct email address for the social worker who managed Sparkle's file in South Africa. I think she may actually be the person who wrote his referral.
We've been trying for a while to connect with someone in the adoption agency who might be able to help us contact Sparkle's first mom.
Suddenly I've got this lady's email address and I'm all tongue tied. I want to say just the right thing, make our pitch perfectly, so that she'll read it and think, "Well, of course I'll help them!"
Should I be really direct and tell her now exactly what we're hoping for? Should I just try to secure a generic assurance that she'll help?
I'll definitely send her a picture of Sparkle at his most charming, with his brilliant smile and shining eyes. Surely that will soften her heart toward us right from the start!
Oh shoot, I wouldn't worry too much about it!
Those people are among the friendliest ever!
They really go out of their way to try to help, so I would definitely hope that that is the case for this lady as well.
So give it a try and hope for the best (oh, and include that "Charming Sparkle" picture you were mentioning!)
I really hope it works out really well for you!

Wow. Does it feel exciting and scary? I would love information for my kids. I agree with Katie. If this woman wrote his referral and helps kids in the 1st place, then no worries, she must already love kids. Go for it. And a sweet picture of a kid always helps when asking for anything. :)
Good luck ~ and breath!

Even at his worst, Sparkle will soften hearts. I will be praying for this interaction.
