I know of two families with baby girls born recently named Diane and Susan. Huh. I don't necessarily like or dislike the names, but it makes me feel old that apparently names from my mom's generation are coming back in again. What's next, Joyce? Patty? Janet? Kathy?
In other news, we are officially at the stage of moving where it's no longer exciting, it just sucks. Beloved and I are trying to focus on getting through it without being too horribly crabby with each other. The kids are doing awesome, by the way. Of course, they don't really seem to be doing their share of the work on this whole moving thing, I've noticed. Slackers.
We have no Christmas tree, no lights, no decorations at all this year. I am not making any Christmas cookies. (And I am embarrassed to mention this but we have not even gotten any presents for the kids at all. It's not like they lack anything, but I feel like a bad parent. Is that terrible? It's just that anything they get I have to pack and move!)
I hate that it feels like we're skipping Christmas in order to pack. I only have so many years to enjoy Christmas traditions with my kids, and we're just skipping a whole Christmas? What a terrible idea!
We are counting on grandparents big time this year to "make" Christmas for the kids. Not to give them lots of stuff, but the lights and food and cocoa and family time. And snow. There should be lots of snow in Minnesota, which will be a hit with the kids if they don't freeze their little fingers off.
I don't recommend moving in December. But Christmas comes anyway, no matter what, and we'll be with family to enjoy it! Hooray! Can't wait...
