My Kids Go To A Snobby School
My kids go to a preppy, snobby school. Beloved and I don't really fit in with the other parents, which I take as a good sign.
How snobby is this school? Well, my almost-three-year-old's class does yoga every morning, with dimmed lights and the whole bit.
During this upcoming week, parents sign their kids up for next year's classes. There was a sign in the lobby a few weeks ago, announcing the upcoming Registration Day in bold red letters.
Beloved and I met with the toddler director and Sparkle's teacher to discuss which class he should go to next year. It's a Montessori program, so next year Sparkle will start in the classroom that he is anticipated to stay in until first grade. There are four classes for three to six year olds, into which Sparkle's current class of 14 will disperse. Each classroom is full Montessori, but each is set up a bit differently, with a different "feel" in each class.
Apparently, the Sunshine room is the most desired classroom. Apparently, parents line up before the doors open on Registration Day to jostle for a slot in the Sunshine room. Apparently, the toddler director thought we might be interested in the Sunshine room as well.
Ummm.... no. Absolutely no way. I find that kind of behavior just... silly and immature. What are you teaching your child by acting that way?
So, anyway, Sparkle will likely be in the River room.
("They take their gardening very seriously in the River room," says the director.)
